Monday Morning Coffee

Time to bring back the mug pictures, because Christmas mugs are my favorite!

This weekend was filled with fun. Saturday night, Nicolas, Madison, Kyrstin, Flynn, and I went to Philadelphia to see Twilight In Concert. It was a fantastic experience! We watched the movie while an orchestra played the music live. We all had a great time revisiting one of our favorite movies.

On Sunday, we went to mass, then Steve and I had dinner with some friends from Pennsylvania who were passing through on their way to North Carolina. It was so nice to see them, and we all had a great visit over a delicious meal.

Today, I am going to finish grocery shopping for Thanksgiving... celery, onions, milk, and the rest of the things you can't buy too far in advance. The turkey is thawing in the fridge, and pretty much everything else is waiting to be boiled, chopped, mashed, or baked. I also stocked up on aluminium pans with lids for all the leftovers we will have. Leftovers are actually my favorite part of Thanksgiving. The cold turkey sandwich on white bread with mayo, salt, and pepper, and a slice of provolone cheese on Friday afternoon...One of my favorite traditions ever.

Well, time to get going. Flynn and I have school today, and then I have some laundry to do and some bills to write. I don't know what's for dinner tonight, which basically means my old standby: grilled cheese and tomato soup. Have a cozy afternoon, my friends!

Have a cozy Monday, my friends!

Billie Jo

P.S. Flynn thanks you for all the birthday wishes!

  5. I love the leftovers, too! But we usually eat out and, well, not too many leftovers. So today I did some shopping and bought some things to make a leftover meal on Friday! And the grocery shopping is done. Brilliant, I say:)

  7. Not much cozy going on south of the border. Huge US military buildup in the Caribbean, thanksgiving dinner was canceled for troops in the theater, and they were just served steak and lobster yesterday...that means bombs away in Venezuela, ala Iraq. While your shopping you might as well stock up, if Trump pulls the trigger inflation will go through the roof.

  8. Billie Jo, what a fun night at the Met! But how dare you have fun while inflation looms over the world! hahaha just had to throw that in there. I am also rolling my eyes. But anyway...I hope you have a wonderful week with your amazing family! Turkey sandwiches with mayo and pepper are my favorite! And corn casserole. I will eat it for breakfast the next day :) Many blessings to you my friend. We have much to be thankful for.

  14. It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend and fun times with your kids at the movie and looks like a fun time. I bought my onions, celery, etc this morning and the turkey is in the refrigerator too. Probably most refrigerators across America have one inside. :-) I love leftover turkey sandwiches too, white bread and all.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  15. Nice Christmas mug. I saw some Christmas mugs when I was shopping at TJ Maxx this afternoon. I walked on by as I have enough already at home. I watched a good movie this morning where bible study usually is. Jeremiah Camp "I Still Believe" movie that I saw a few years ago. Touched my heart and mind with cancer in there remembering when my daughter had cancer, but no more!! I am going to use duck for thanksgiving lunch. It's in the fridge now and a bit less frozen due to be out of fridge for a few hours. Planning on a peach crisp tomorrow for dessert. Our son will be coming here for celebrating Thanksgiving for good reasons!! Have a good week,
    Becky
